Welcome, First-time Visitor!
If you came here to see those Town documents that are NOT on the Chatham Town website (but should be), then you can skip to the bottom of this page and, after clicking on the web-address, look to the left for "Links".
However, if you ALSO want to get an email notifying you whenever I make a new Town document available, then please read the following background and instructions.
**********************************************
Welcome to the homepage for my campaign for the May 15, 2008 election for a seat on the Board of Selectmen for the Town of Chatham, Massachusetts.
As a candidate, I obviously have some ideas about improving the quality of life in Chatham. But I want to hear from YOU about what changes that we, as a Town, need to make so that we can better protect and sustain the economic, environmental and social health of our community.
It's my feeling that the quality of our decisionmaking on Town matters can be significantly improved by making it easier for interested citizens to become more involved in that process. Small towns, like ours, all across America have been using various methods (including the Internet) to encourage their citizens to contribute their wisdom to problem-solving for the common good. And, basically, isn't that how our Democracy is supposed to work?
Here's an example: At a recent meeting of the Board of Selectmen (4/29/08), I requested them to make their weekly "meeting package" of background documents available on the Town's website. This would make it easy for citizens watching on TV, or thinking of attending the meeting, to read the very same documents that their Selectmen have been given to make decisions.
However, they voted (3-2) against making their "meeting package" available on the Town website. BUT, because their "meeting package" is a public document, I can make it more available to the general public, even if they choose not to. And here's how.
Every week, I will make a copy of the Selectmen's "meeting package" available on the Internet. Typically, this will be on the same day that they receive their hard-copy from the Town Manager (i.e., the Friday before their next meeting on Tuesday).
And so, IF YOU WOULD LIKE TO KNOW when the weekly Selectmen's "meeting package" becomes available, I can send you a weekly email telling you exactly where to find it on the Internet. All you need to do is follow the easy instructions, below, for adding yourself to the special email-group. (At this point, you may may want to print out this page for easy reference.)
HOW TO GET UPDATES:
1. To add yourself to the email-group (it's free and automatic), simply send a blank message by clicking on the email-address AT THE VERY BOTTOM OF THIS PAGE. (Please Note: Despite the name, this does NOT mean that you are endorsing my candidacy; your email-address will not be visible to anyone else.)
2. And you can take yourself off the email-group at any time. Every message that you receive has instructions on how to automatically "un-subscribe" yourself from the email-group.
3. You will receive an email (from Yahoo) that asks you to confirm your request to "subscribe" to the email-group. Although that email will contain a link for becoming a Yahoo member, you are free to IGNORE it, and just hit "Reply" to confirm by Email-Only.
